Performing Arts Scholarships
Students majoring in acting, dance, music theatre or theatrical design & technology may apply for talent-based scholarships which range from being a one-time scholarship to a renewable scholarship for an additional three years. The scholarships range in monetary value and are based on application and audition/interview. Students who major in music education, music performance, music in the liberal arts, and music production and recording arts may be considered for merit-and-need-based scholarships on the basis of audition, interview and portfolio submission (for music production and recording arts). First year scholarships may run from $2,000 to $9,000 annually. The Department of Music also awards one Odyssey Program scholarship every four years. In addition, athletic band and choral scholarships are available to music and non-music majors by audition in the fall of the first year. Awards range from $250 to $1,000 annually. Sophomore scholarships based on demonstrated excellence as a music major range from $1,000 to $5,000 annually. The music department provides opportunities for students to supplement their financial aid through employment, including keyboard lab staff, music technology lab staff, recording studio staff, music theory tutors, recital/event staff, and cultural programs staff.
