If interested in local history and art, head to the Captain James and Emma Holt White House, home to exhibits that rotate year round and include paintings, pottery, woodwork and more. Located just down the road is the Children’s Museum of Alamance County. Opening in 2012, the museum will feature programs, workshops, camps and exhibits that are fun, hands-on and interactive. 也, the annual Willow Walk, an outdoor sculpture and garden exhibition, provides an opportunity to view and purchase various pieces created by artists from the Triad region.
For a taste of local history, head to the Alamance County Historical Museum or the Textile Heritage Museum at Glencoe, where you can learn all about the area’s textile roots, or pay a visit to the Preserving our Heritage Festival at Cedarock Park, an annual event featuring 19th century farm demonstrations and antique exhibits that provides a unique look at farm life in the county during the 1800s. On a warm summer evening, head to the Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre, which produces historical dramas, children’s shows and musicals throughout the summer months.
Want to hear local music and sample local food? The town of Saxapahaw hosts a vibrant farmer’s market and music night every Saturday from May through August, featuring local bands and foods grown in the area.
